Temperature measurement

Temperature sensors indicate the temperature of the melt.
The measurement can be carried out through various configurations.
PT100 is the only sensor which can be connected by means of a copper cable. Type J, K and L sensors must be connected with the same type of cable.

We advise using sensors with cones which allow temperature measurement inside the channel and not at the walls of the flange.

If only one opening is available a pressure sensor with a temperature sensor can be used. The sensor membrane must touch the plastic, which is why the melt temperature measurement is carried out at the wall of the flange. The temperature of the metal, dependant on the cylinder or flange heaters, will influence the measurement.

Temperature sensors and cable connections
Sensors with thermo-insulated tips enable reliable and accurate temperature measurements of the melt. Ceramic insulation eliminates the influence of the temperature of the flange on the measurement.

Design of sensor with ceramic insulation

All temperature sensors are equipped with a conical measuring pin which allows proper and simple installation. The cable connections are also equipped with bayonet connections. The length of the measuring tip can be selected within the length of 5 mm. The standard version can be used for temperatures of up to 350ºC. For temperatures of up to 500ºC, we can offer special sensors

Ceramic insulation
Galvanically isolated temperature sensor.

Length of measuring tip
The length of the tip depends on the diameter of the channel and the viscosity of the plastic. Available lengths are: 0 to 25 mm in 5 mm steps. The tips are equipped with Fe-CuNi type J or L or NiCr-Ni type K thermocouples or Pt100 thermometer resistors.
